English for World Citizenship Ⅰ
This course focuses on speaking, and listening. Students will respond orally to written texts (read and listened to) based on various language concepts, engaging critically and constructively with the topics/ideas found in the text. They will be able to support their opinions orally. Students will develop critical thinking skills by analyzing, synthesizing and developing their individual opinions and ideas around a topic.
English for World Citizenship Ⅱ
The course is designed to increase student confidence and competence in conversational English as well as build writing skills from basic sentence level to simple paragraphs. The Level 1 course targets Basic level students with topic areas and appropriate vocabulary and grammar points tailored to match their needs.
English for Creative Performance I
This course focuses on speaking in the context of giving speeches/presentations. It is designed to increase confidence in public speaking and challenge students to be able to express their opinions, and provide coherent, structurally cohesive instructions and directions using the appropriate sequential and prepositional language. Students will be expected to incorporate effective gestures and body language, as well as spoken emphasis, into their presentations. The course will also prepare students for further speaking/ speech-based courses to be studied in subsequent semesters.
English for Creative Performance II
This course focuses on speaking in the context of giving speeches/presentations. English for World Citizenship III
This course focuses on speaking and listening skills to develop academic language ability. This course will improve language skills necessary for comprehending oral dialogues and expressing oneself orally in both academic and social contexts. This course will provide vocabulary development, improved fluency and listening comprehension through class discussions and presentations. Students will benefit from gained confidence and an improved attitude towards language learning.
English for World Citizenship IV
This course focuses on speaking, reading, and writing. Students will respond orally to written texts, engaging critically and constructively to the topics generated by the readings and video. They will be able to support their opinions both orally and in written format. Students will develop critical thinking skills by analyzing, synthesizing and developing their individual opinions and ideas around a topic.
Sol-Connections 1
Sol-Connections is a task-based program to build cultural, language, and civic bridges between Woosong students and Foreign faculty. Team members will assist each other in language acquisition (Korean and English) and share greater cultural understanding through the completion of four (4) activities/projects. Students will meet twice weekly with the facilitators to receive specific language skills (Korean and English), participate in team building exercises, share their experiences, receive help on their presentation projects, and participate in field trips to practice the language skills learned.
Sol-Connections 2
Sol-Connections is a task-based program to build cultural, language, and civic bridges between Woosong students (Korean and International) and foreign English speaking faculty, as well as to give incoming students and enjoyable space to practice speaking English as a foreign language in order to boost confidence. Team members will assist each other in language acquisition and share greater cultural understanding through the completion of four main activities/ projects, and several team building experiential activities. Students will meet with program facilitators to discuss activity topics/ goals, participate in field-trips, share their experiences, and receive help on their projects.
Gender Studies
This course uses lectures, discussion, readings, and various media to explore the ways in which media culture induces perceived gender roles. Instruction examines how gender and sexuality are presented and often misrepresented in media. Students deconstruct norms of masculinity and femininity generated by television, film, and advertising.
Business English
Students will gain the essential Global Business Skills of resume writing, interviewing, formal business correspondence, telephone work and the cultural expectations necessary to compete in business on a global level. Basic Business English addresses topics including making introductions, salary information, doing business with different cultures, quality standards, and business strategy.
Exploring Music
Why does music affect us the way it does? There is no escaping music in our society; it's everywhere. Together we will discover how and why music has impacted our culture through the centuries. We will explore music's history, its basic elements, and its power to alter entire societies.
Pop Culture
This course aims to introduce students to more autonomous, project-based forms of learning, while simultaneously engaging
teir interest in popular culture (movies, pop music, spectator sports etc). Students will have the opportunity to explore two popular culture topics of their choosing and present their findings in a creative manner or their choosing.
Book Club
Book clubs is a course designed for students who want to spend more time reading, discussing books, and exploring titles and genres that are new to them. The teacher will facilitate small group discussions, and support students as they individually explore their personal interests.
Hot Issues
Social Discussion introduces the contemporary social and personal issues such as poverty, happiness, money, unemployment, energy, pollution, and crime and their effects on us as Global Citizens. Students will investigate the causes, interactions, policy and possible solutions to a variety of social issues.
Drama Club
Through the study and practice of the arts, students employ sound, image, action, and movement to learn to solve problems, make decisions, think creatively, and use imagination. This process not only leads to deeper understanding of one’s own work and that of others in the arts, but also develops skills which are highly sought after in the world of work.
Draw Me a Story
Through this course, we will explore how to find a creative voice, how to use memories to inspire the writing process, how to draw in an improvisational style, and how to authentically record the totality of lived human experience through creative visual and written work in the form of a journal and polished visual narratives.
Pop Icons
This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn about pop music icons, their biographies, musical styles, musical influence and cultural impact on other artists and modern culture.
Comic Conversation
This course offers students an opportunity to expand their knowledge of the comic medium, not only as entertainment, but as works of art. The selection of contemporary comics in this course shall help students discover new perspectives on a range of issues. Students will be challenged to read texts for meaning and nuance, and discuss the bigger context behind the pictures and words, as well as comic layout, art and editorial choice, before embarking on their own artistic journey.

본 교과목은 새롭게 바뀐 토익 듣기 시험을 대비하여 영어 듣기 능력을 향상시키는 것을 목표로 한다. 이 수업은 필수 단어를 학습하고 파트별 핵심 스킬을 훈련하여 듣기 성적 향상을 기대한다.

본 교과목은 새로 변형된 TOEIC SPEAKING에 대한 기본 유형을 파악하기 위한 수업으로, 각 파트 별 답안의 기본형을 익힘으로, 파트별 답안의 순차적인 과정에 익숙해지는 것을 그 목표로 한다.
Intensive OPIc
영어 말하기 능력을 평가하는 OPIc 시험에 대비하는 강좌로, 상황별/주제별 예상 질문들에 대한 모범답안을 연습하며, 아울러 기본어휘와 문법지식을 갖추도록 하여 취업을 앞둔 학생들로 하여금 면접에 대비하도록 한다. 반복 연습과 꾸준한 구문훈련을 통해 영어 말하기에 대한 두려움을 없애고 공인영어시험 및 면접에서 좋은 결과를 얻고자 한다.
영문법 스타트
본 교과목은 영어 학습을 위한 기본 문법을 소개하는 수업으로, 실용적인 예문을 통해 각종 기본 문법사항을 반복함으로써 기본 문법지식을 단단하게 다지는 것을 그 목표로 한다.
문화의 이해
본 교과목은 서로 다른 문화를 이해함으로써 영어를 통한 의사소통 능력을 향상시키는 수업이다. 영어권 문화에 대한 올바른 이해를 기반으로 원활한 의사소통 능력의 습득을 그 목표로 한다.
